2026 Global Korea Scholarship for Graduate Degrees

The National Institute for International Education (NIIED) under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea is inviting talented Singaporeans to apply for the 2026 Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) for graduate Degrees.


Please refer to the attached application guidelines for details on eligibility, required documents/forms, and other essential information.


1. Quota for Singaporean Applicants (Embassy Track): 9



2. Scholarship Duration

O Doctoral Degree Program: 4 years (1 year of Language+3 years of Degree Program)

O Master’s Degree Program: 3 years (1 year of Language+2 years of Degree Program



3. Selection Schedule


O Application Period: Thursday, February 12 at 11 am to Wednesday, February 25 at 6 pm


O Announcement of shortlisted applicants for interview: 6 March 2025 (Fri)

  (Only shortlisted candidates will receive individual email notifications.)


Interview: Morning & Afternoon, 13 March, 2025 (Mon)

   The interview date cannot be changed. The interview time will be individually notified.

   (If you are unable to attend in person due to unavoidable circumstances, a video interview may be arranged upon prior agreement.)


All subsequent procedures will be carried out through the Study in Korea website.


Announcement of the 1st selection results:: 17 March, 2025 (Mon)

O Announcement of the 2nd round selection results: early May 

O Announcement of the 3rd round selection results: 6, June, 2026 

O Applicant’s choice of university: by 6pm, 12 June, 206 

O Announcement of the final selection results: Expected by late June 2026 



4. Eligibility

Nationality: Applicants must hold Singaporean citizenship, and both parents must be non-Korean citizens.


Age: Applicants must be under 40 years old (born after September 1, 1986).


Level of Education: Applicants must have obtained the required degree (as specified in the guidelines) or be expected to graduate by July 31, 2026.


Academic Performance: The cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) from the entire curriculum of the previous degree program must meet one of the following criteria:

 - 2.64 on a 4.0 scale;

 - 2.80 on a 4.3 scale;

 - 2.91 on a 4.5 scale;

 - 3.23 on a 5.0 scale; or

 - Score percentile80% or above on a 100-point scale, or ranked within the top 20% of one's class


GPA Conversion: If an applicant's transcript does not provide a CGPA in one of the accepted GPA scales, a converted transcript (matching one of the above GPA scales) must be submitted as a supplementary document.


University-Specific Eligibility: Applicants must check for any additional eligibility requirements set by each university/department. Some departments may have specific requirements (e.g., TOPIK Level 3) for enrollment. Please carefully review the requirements of your chosen universities.


University Selection: Applicants may select up to three different universities and available fields of study from the 74 universities listed in Appendix C (Type A + Type B) of the attached guidelines.

  • Choice 1 must be selected only from Type B universities.

  • Be careful not to confuse Choice 1 with Choices 2 and 3.


5. Documents to complete* and Required certificates**

Please refer to the attached guidelines for submission.

  • For the initial online submission via Study in Korea website, applicants may upload scanned copies of the required documents. Apostilled documents are not required at this stage.

  • After the announcement of the 1st Selection results (17 March 2026), the selected candidates and the backup candidate must submit to the Embassy by 6pm, 24 March 2026 (Tue):

  • ONE certified true copy (with an apostille by the Singapore Academy of Law) of each supporting document

  • Recommendation Letter: One original letter
